There is now date of poll confirmed which will be Thursday 12 March 2026. Further information about the nomination process is set out below.

 

Standing as a candidate for this By Election

To stand for election, candidates must complete valid nomination papers and someone must hand deliver these to the Deputy Returning Officer on one of the following days between 10am and 4pm:

· Thursday 12 February 2026

· Friday 13 February 2026

· Monday 16 February 2026

· Tuesday 17 February 2026

· Wednesday 18 February 2026

· Thursday 19 February 2026

· Friday 20 February 2026

You can find full details for submitting nominations below. You must book an appointment to hand deliver nomination papers by contacting elections@buckinghamshire.gov.uk or by calling 01296 798141.

You should check your eligibility to stand for election first. Guidance for candidates is available on the Electoral Commission website

Candidates are responsible for making sure they are eligible and are not disqualified.

 

Completing nomination papers

You can download the template nomination papers Nomination pack parish council election from the Electoral Commission's website. The papers consist of:  

1a Nomination paper

1b Home address form (part 1 and part 2)

2c Candidate's consent to nomination (including the pages of legislation)

You then only need to fill in the following forms in certain circumstances:

- certificate of authorisation, if you plan to use a political party name or description

- request for a party emblem, if you plan to use a political party's emblem

- notification of election agent, if you're nominating yourself for the unitary election

 

Subscribers for your nomination paper

Your nomination paper must be signed/subscribed by 2 local government electors, that are listed on the 2nd February electoral register. The electors must be registered within the Hambleden North ward in which you are standing for election.

Electoral Services can provide you with the subscribers’ elector number, if you can confirm their name and address. Or you can request for a copy of the electoral register for the area you are standing election in, by completing the request form and send it to Electoral Services. The Parish Clerk can also supply numbers.

 

How and when to submit nomination papers

Please see the section above “standing as a candidate for this By Election” for the dates nomination papers may be submitted. Nomination papers must be delivered in person to a Deputy Returning Officer at:

You must book an appointment to hand deliver nomination papers by contacting elections@buckinghamshire.gov.uk or by calling 01296 798141.

Anyone can hand deliver the nomination papers on the candidate’s behalf to the Deputy Returning Officer.

 

After you submit nomination papers

After Buckinghamshire Council have received and accepted your nomination papers, they will give you a letter confirming that the nomination is valid and give more information about election arrangements. At close of nominations should fewer candidates stand validly nominated than there are vacancies (one), there will be no poll and the candidate will be elected uncontested. If more candidates stand nominated than there are vacancies, then a contested poll will take place. If no candidate submits a nomination paper, then a poll will be rescheduled. This will repeat until the vacancies are filled.
